Building muscle AND losing fat - is it possible?

I’m trying to build/maintain muscle and lose fat at the same time but I’m struggling with getting enough protein with a calorie deficit. Is it even possible? I find it easy to eat enough protein (as a veggie it’s a bit more challenging but not impossible) but trying to do this with about 1800 cals is hard! Any tips?

It’s possible but is generally much harder and sees slower, lesser progress on both fronts than focusing on either individually which is why most do one and then the other as in the grand scheme, it works out faster for the same result.

As for protein with reduced cals as a vegan, I don’t have first hand experience but focus on sources of higher protein/lower cal sources as the main part of your meals and fill up on lower calories, higher volume foods for the rest like tvp and salad but make sure you’re getting enough fats too. It can be tricky to begin with but you’ll start to figure out what works best soon enough with a little testing.
