Help on Nervous system burnout

Hello, I overtrained last two weeks (my fault for carrying on through rest days not what was said by Bobbie) and have learned the hard ay about rest days and why theyre needed.

For reference- 7am cardio for about 45min evryday , 6pm lifting 1hr following schedule.

now been having flu like symptoms and exhaustion, how would you come out of this feeling? Is there something I can take/do to get back on track? When will I know I’m ok to train hard again?

Thankyou x

When I feel like that, I slow down, take nice baths, walks outdoors, and book a massage if I can. I focus on rest, sleep, and good nutrition /hydration, and to keep my routine and get into the gym I do gentle movement like walking or stretching if I feel up to it, but I avoid lifting or hard cardio.

When I start to feel mostly symptom-free for a couple of days, I ease back into training, starting light and gradually building intensity and volume. I know I’m ready to push harder again when I feel energised rather than drained after a session.

i was starting to feel that way this week- and booked a full body massage yesterday to help with the aches and fatigue, and an early bed.

Rest is just as important as training because it’s when your body and mind recover and get stronger. During rest, muscles repair, energy stores are replenished, and the nervous system and hormones reset. be kind to your body and mind.

Hope you feel better soon :bouquet:

Yeah definitely think rest is key, I’ve had to take a step back this week. Unfortunately my kids picked up a virus which thankfully they are ok now but it’s wiped me out. I’m usually not ill but I think it stems down to me already being drained from the dieting and training as it’s a big changed to the body so this week I’ve concentrated on getting my fluids in and resting. I hate that I’ve not trained for 4 days but I know if I don’t give my body time to reset and regenerate then it’ll be a much longer process. Also struggling to digest, my stomach is all over the place so currently looking for supplements that might help me with this, if anyone has any ideas I’d greatly appreciate it.

I hope you both have a restful weekend and feel better soon :slightly_smiling_face:
